The Amazing FCHS
Fayette County High School is a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence
with an approximate student population of 1400. Fayette County's mascot is a Tiger.
The Amazing Debate Team
We define our debate team as students competiting in several rhetoric events
to try and succeed in the real world. For the past 21 years of our existance, our record speaks for itself:

Championships (1989-2000, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006)
- 4 Time Varsity State Runner Up (1989, 1990,
2002, 2007)
- 2 Time JV State Semifinalist (2001,
2002)
- 1 Time Novice State Semifinalist (2007)
- 2 Time Extemporaneous Speaking Champion (2002, 2004)
- 1 Time Dramatic Interpretation Champion (2005)
- 22 NFL Nationals Qualifiers (1997-2007)
- 11 NCFL Nationals Qualifiers (1999, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2007)
- 21 All State Qualifiers (1989, 1990, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008)
- 1 Time Policy All State Championship Runner Up (2003)
- 1 Time Extemp All State Championship (2007)
It has been said that we are the one of the best overall forensics
team in the state. We travel all around the United States. The past five years, we have been to almost 20 states!
The Debate team consists of 10 Seniors, 6 Juniors, 12 Sophomores, and 5 Freshmen.
Coaching Staff
Beverly Kelly, Director of Debate: Beverly
has a MAEd in English from Auburn Univeristy. She has been coaching Fayette County for almost fifteen years. Under
her leadership, FCHS has captured ten region championships, NFL and CFL Nationals qualifiers, and All State qualifiers. Kelly
also has been recognized as Diamond Coach by the National Forensic League. This is one of the highest honors a coach
can receive.
Jeffrey Miller, Assistant Director of Debate: Jeffrey
is a majoring in Mathematics Education at Kennesaw State University Honors College. He is also a student teacher
at Fayette County High School once a week. This will be his second year on board as a coach for FCHS.
Thomas Swaffer, Assistant Coach: Mr. Swaffer is
in his third year as a debate coach. He has been teaching for 48 years. He is specifically helping the FCHS debate
team in the areas of LD and Public Forum.
Coaching Assistants:
Coaching Assistants are mostly FCHS Alumni who have come back
(most of the time free of charge) and help the current debate team. These individuals have also judged for us at almost
every tournament. We could not have our team without them.
Munir Meghjani: Munir is a student at Oxford
of Emory and helps with the public forum kids. He qualified for Nationals four times in High School.
Craig Skelton: Craig is a student at Georgia
College and State University who also helps the public forum students. He has broke at every single tournament in the state.
Debate Executive Council
Sonika Reddy, NFL President: Sonika is a sophomore who
is ranked in the top ten of her class. She has excelled so much in debate and academics. As a freshmen, she won
a Varsity, JV and Novice tournament [first to do that in FCHS history].
Iesha White, NFL Vice President: Iesha was the first FCHS freshmen
ever to qualify for the Richard B. Russell All State Championship. She also finished in the top 25 teams at Novice Nationals.
Sonya Jooma, NFL Secretary/Treasurer: Sonya is a stellar sophomore
who can outspeak almost anyone. She won 2 tournaments last year while receieving multiple speaker awards.
Kamilah Gray, Member At Large: Kamilah is a senior who was a part
of the State Runner up team last year. She is an integral part of our team.
Stephanie Miller, Member At Large: Stephanie is also a senior who
debating comes natural for. She won 4 tournaments in her sophomore year and now usually just judges for the team.
